Investment Advisory Fees

ClearVue is big on transparency, which is why we have never shied away from making our investment management fees public and straightforward.

Our Investment Advisory Fee

We have two (2) different flat fee arrangements at ClearVue; one is for our planning clients, and the other is for our non-planning clients.

  • 0.55% annually: For all planning clients enrolled in our Premier Planning service with an investment account.

  • 0.80% annually: For all non-planning clients.

Now, let's take a closer look at investment fees as a whole.

Fund Fees

All investments have expenses. However, the fees we want to highlight here are the costs associated with investments funds, known as internal expenses or a fund's "expense ratio." These fees are incurred by investors who hold a specific fund and often cover transaction costs, marketing, and distribution fees to operate the fund.

Advisory Fees

Here is where it can get confusing, which is why we feel we must take a closer look.

ClearVue Financial earns an investment advisory fee (or asset management fee) for researching, designing, monitoring, and maintaining our client's investment portfolio, helping keep them on track to reach long-term goals.

Our advisory fee is a percentage of our client's account balance, billed according to a mutually agreed-upon investment management agreement (more on this below).

Why Costs Matter

In short, the fee(s) you pay can eat away at investment return/account balance if you are not paying attention. As a basic example, suppose an individual invested $25,000 10 years ago, earning roughly 6% each year. Here is the fee impact (assuming interest compounds monthly):

  • No Advisory Fee: Current Balance - $45,500

  • 1% Advisory Fee: Current Balance - $41,175

  • 2% Advisory Fee: Current Balance - $37,270

As you see in this hypothetical scenario, as fees increase, the amount an investor may end up with in the future decreases (market volatility aside). So, before you start investing, be sure to understand all associated costs. When you invest with ClearVue, that will be one of several important topics we will discuss.
