Custodial Accounts

Also known as Uniform Gifts to Minors Accounts (UGMAs) or Uniform Transfers to Minors Accounts (UTMAs), these accounts may be used to hold on to property for the benefit of an underage child.

What you should know about custodial accounts:

  • Parents can manage investments for the minor until a specified age.

  • A custodian (other than a parent) may oversee investments.

  • There are no contribution or income limitations.
